Waterday Services Ltd was formed in 2005 with the objective of providing a small range of services to the passenger boat industry primarily, but not limited to, the non-tidal River Thames. The services include:
Roger at Henley

  • Skippering passenger vessels
  • Assistance to passenger boat operators in the production and maintenance of formal documentation to meet the Maritime and Coastguard Agency legislation
  • Technical support to the Passenger Boat Association in a range of matters including Boat Master Licence (BML) legislation and improved Search and Rescue (SAR) procedures for passenger vessels

Roger Flitter BEM

Roger has had a 24 year career in the Royal Air Force in an aircraft engineering capacity. During this period he travelled to various parts of the world in a variety of roles and conditions. In the last 10 years of his service up to 1986 he specialised in computer software engineering in support of the testing of aircraft engines including those fitted to Tornado, Jaguar and Hawk. He was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 1986 Queens Birthday Honours List for both this work and as an active school governor.

On leaving the RAF, Roger took up a position in the aerospace related IT industry working in flight data recording and flight simulation. His career developed in to a variety of management roles which increased in scope and responsibility as time progressed. The responsibilities expanded to include Installation of a £100M UK military IT system and major contract management of a Royal Navy logistics system, More recently his IT career included the roles of Programme Director and Account Director for major clients including the MoD, Rolls-Royce, General Motors, the DVLA and BP.

Roger has now taken semi-retirement from industry and, based on a twenty year passion, devotes his time to boats and boating.


In the late 1980s he took over the management of a voluntary steam dredging operation on the Basingstoke Canal as part of the canal restoration programme

During the 1990s he participated in a shared boating scheme and contributed ideas and suggestions to the shared ownership company in its quest to expand. More recently he has purchased his own narrow boat shell which he has fitted out to a high standard.


He has been married to Lesley for 35 years and they have two grown up sons.
